Damn that Crosby Kid

The USA-Canada Gold medal hockey match was the best bet on television, over the weekend.

The Americans did an amazing job tying it up with under a minute to go, but they couldn't close the deal as Sidney Crosby's goal in OT allowed the entire country of Canada to breathe a sigh of relief.

I'm not sure our northern neighbors could handle another loss to the Americans in "their sport", much less a gold medal game loss on home ice.

It was a far cry from how the USA Hockey team captured the country's hearts 30 years ago at Lake Placid, but nevertheless, it was riveting television. How can you get upset at the Canadians? This wasn't the brutes from USSR, it was Canada.....plus, we've already experieinced our best Winter Olympics in history, and this game was icing on the Olympic cake.

Team Canada had a combined payroll of 128 million bucks and the USA Team had a 83.6 million dollar line-up.....and both sides put on a great show, loaded with high drama.

Both sides showed a touch of class, NHL-style, with the team handshakes at center ice.....the only thing missing was the Team Canada Women's hockey team out there, celebrating with cigars and champagne.

For the record, I didn't understand why the ladies from the Great White North were catching so much heat for the post-match party on ice? The only thing that would have been offensive is if they decided to disrobe on the blue line.

So, Michael Jordan is going to be the new owner of the Charlotte Bobcats?

Here is the big question....does that mean Michael has to show an interest in being a real part of the franchise, or is this regime an extension of the Bob Johnson experiment?

If MJ feels as the boss that he can come and go as he pleases and lets his entourage handle the day-to-day activities, then this franchise is in big trouble. If Mike is going to make an effort to be a part of the fabric of the community, then the Bobcats have a chance to get people's attention when it comes to the Charlotte sports scene.

The team is in the best shape it's ever been, which is not saying much, but it is a start. They've got a chance to make the playoffs as they battle Miami, Milwaukee and Chicago for the final three spots in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Jordan's approval as owner is a foregone conclusion, and Johnson's reign in Charlotte can only be described as pathetic. I totally misread Johnson. I thought he had figured out what a golden opportunity he had in the marketplace, but he turned out to be a complete bum. He paid over 300 million for the ability to lose his ass financially.

Nice job, Bob.

I'm hoping Jordan learned what not to do by watching Bob....the problem of course is that neither guy was in town enough to oversee what was really going on with the franchise.

This will be an interesting time for the Bobcats and Jordan. I hope this is a successful marriage, because if this ends in an ugly divorce, then NBA basketball in Charlotte will be damaged goods forever.

Danica Patrick.....35-31-36.

No, that's not her measurements.....it's her finishes in the Nationwide Series.

I'm not impressed...never have been.

Danica has now delivered to Dale, Jr. two wrecked cars in three races, along with the inability to break the Top 30.

The good news for Junior....he doesn't have to repair anymore of her cars, for at least four months.

While Junior bids his media darling farewell, he needs to concentrate on finding Victory Lane himself. His winless streak is now at 60 races and he has one win in his last 137 starts in Cup point races.

When you consider that his Hendrick teammate, Jimmie Johnson, has two Cup wins in the past 8 days....it puts it into perspective.

So, Tony Kornheiser gets suspended for two weeks for ripping into Hannah Storm's wardrobe.....even though TK was right about the go-go boots, he crossed the line in attacking a fellow member of the ESPN establishment.

Had he taken a pot shot or ten at anybody else on NBC or CBS, then it would have been fair game......but Tony made a broadcasting mistake 101, with his verbal attack on Storm.

Unfortunately, PTI's chemistry takes a major hit when he, or Michael Wilbon are missing. And, as for Storm, she can go back to her morning gig in which she tries to regain her youthful appearance from 20 years ago.
