Like most Americans, I was mesmerized by the Boston bombings and the manhunt that ensued.

I can only think of a few times in my life when I couldn't turn off the TV for days: 9/11, the OJ Simpson chase and the landing on the moon....I can still remember as a kid watching Neil Armstrong, but I digress.

The tenacious search and capture by all the authorities in Boston was incredible television.

When you take a step back and think about what they accomplished in a matter of 4 days, it's simply amazing.

I can't put into words how impressive all the police, the local and federal agencies and leaders behind the scenes were in reaching their goal of finding the suspects. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the individuals and families that suffered losses and injuries in the mindless bombings during the Boston Marathon.

While we were transfixed with the Boston situation, it needs to be mentioned that another terrible tragedy took place in West, Texas.....our thoughts and prayers go out to all that were affected by the explosion.

It was a crazy week.....now let's get back to sports.

The Atlanta Braves jumped out to a sizzling 12-1 record and had their fans talking crazy stuff like World Series champs after two weeks of the season.

Don't get me wrong...the Braves are a really talented team and one capable of winning a championship.....but we've got a long ways to go.

Beginning Monday night, the Bravos play in Colorado.....and it will be two teams with the best records in baseball.

The Braves had a hiccup in Pittsburgh, but they are still playing terrific baseball.

The Rockies finally lost a home game on Sunday, but they are playing out of their minds. Despite being swept in San Francisco, the Rockies have had their way with everybody else.

It's too early to go crazy, but this series should be fun.

Speaking of baseball....it looks like the $225 million payroll in LA is off to a really, really slow start.

The Dodgers are finding out that it takes more than writing a check to guarantee championship success.

When you combine the way they fell apart down the stretch last year after the big trade with Boston, and the weak start.....there are a bunch of baseball fans with smirks on their faces....including me.

The NBA Playoffs are underway, and as of the writing of this post, not a single home team has lost yet.

Yawn.

There's no doubt that these are the best players in the world....but I'm waiting for some juice.

Can anybody dethrone LeBron and the Heat?

I'm hard-pressed to believe that anybody in the East has the game and depth to pull it off. Maybe there are a few teams in the West that are capable of beating Miami....but only time will tell.

I like the potential West match-ups, once we get past this round of the playoffs....Thunder, Clippers, Spurs can play and entertain.

I just keep waiting for some type of first round surprise.....I'm not sure that it's going to happen.....but I'll keep checking it out.

In NASCAR, I have to bring up Danica Patrick's latest spat.....the reason I do this is because talking about Matt Kenseth is so damn boring. By the way, he captured the checkered flag in Kansas, if you were not paying attention.

But it appears that Danica, while getting comfortable in her traditional two laps off the pace position, didn't care for the driving of fellow lapped driver David Gilliland.

While the two were battling for another Top 25 finish, the Diva of NASCAR had a few choice words for Gilliland.

She stated, "He tries to take me out every time....Tell his spotter that I'm coming after him if he does it again. In fact, I might just do it right now."

Gilliland's response...."Shut-up and race".

It doesn't sound as if Gilliland or any other driver is too concerned with Patrick's threats.

Maybe I should rephrase that one....perhaps Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. is the only one that has to put up with her BS.

I'm off for another week of R&R....I'm starting to feel like a CBS Radio executive, with all this time away from work.....but somebody's got to do it.
