And The Nation Rejoices

It's about damn time, Junior.

Dale, Jr. snapped a winless streak of 143 races in claiming the victory in Michigan over the weekend. It was the four-year anniversary since his last Cup win in the sport, which also took place at the same track.

The 88-car had been showing signs that he was close to finding the right set-up and a spot in Victory Lane.

Now that America's nightmare is over, there should be some type of state holiday planned for everyone in the South so they can absorb and soak up the festivities.

I know Junior is relieved that it's over....and to be honest, so am I.

Unfortunately for Junior, he'll still have the pressure to finish high and make some cash so he can help pay for all the wrecked race cars Danica is going to deliver to his Nationwide shop.

But in the meantime, ring the bell....Dale Junior has finally won again!

Webb Simpson captured the US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

He put together a pair of 68's over the weekend, to lap the field and win his first major title by a single stroke.

Simpson was off the leaderboard and the radar screen entering the final round, but a 68 moves up quickly during the final round of a major tourney.

Many assumed Tiger Woods would close the deal after lurking the first two days at Olympic....but he was nowhere to be found on the weekend. While Dale, Jr. snapped his streak, Tiger has now gone four years without winning a major.

The last 15 major tournaments have been won by 15 different golfers......good luck picking a favorite next month, at the British Open.

The most bizarre moment of the Open coverage happened during the closing ceremony, when some moron decided to run on the green and do his best "look at me, I'm a moron" impersonation.

He was soon put into a headlock and removed from the Club.

But congrats to Webb Simpson, for the first major win of his career.

The Charlotte Bobcats have hired.....wait for it.......some guy by the name of Michael Dunlap to be their next coach.

His credentials as a head coach are limited.....unless you want to call winning big at Division II Metro State and being an assistant coach at too many schools to list. Either way, he's been doing whatever he does for 30 years and Michael Jordan finally decided that it was time for Coach Dunlap to get his big break.

The "wow" factor with this hire on a scale of 0-10 would be somewhere near the Bobcats' 2012 winning percentage of .105. Call MJ cheap, if you want....because so far, he's proven it.

The biggest issue with the Dunlap hire is that the team still has very limited talent.

I have no idea if he can coach, but I do know that without a major upgrade in talent it won't matter who is coaching in Charlotte.

But somehow the hiring of Dunlap is consistent with Jordan's decisions.

I just hope MJ starts spending some cash...and start making some decent moves.

I returned from Omaha and I must tell you that it was an incredible experience.

I've always wanted to go, and for 5 days I watched baseball, ate great steaks, mingled with the locals and broadcasted live on SiriusXM....it was a blast.

I had huge expectations and the experience exceeded my wildest dreams....it is a must for any sports fan.

I was also impressed with the student-athletes from each school....the kids were first-class and so were the coaches. It was as enjoyable of a NCAA championship event as I've experienced.

I hope it becomes a regular stop on the SiriusXM College Sports Nation schedule.
