Summertime Blues

I hate the heat. But I'd rather deal with triple-digit temps than the next six weeks of the sports calendar. Unfortunately, I have both of them on the docket.

I guess I'm supposed to care about the NBA Draft on Thursday?

Wimbledon is ready to start without the world's best tennis player, Rafael Nadal.

The US Open might get completed in time for the start of July's British Open.

Don't look now, but there are only 100 games remaining in the Major League Baseball regular season.

The USA men's soccer team owns Egypt; does that count for something?

You can always tell when the end of June is near...every ACC baseball team will be eliminated in the College World Series.

Yuck.

The football season can't get here fast enough....but in the meantime, we have to put up with the remainder of June and the worst sports month of them all....July.

It is truly torture for every single sports fan.

The next six weeks feel like the past week at the links known as Bethpage Black. Will it ever end? What day is it...what round is it?

I attended a country concert last week with Sugarland and Keith Urban. You should know by now that I'm not a huge fan of country music, but even that concert gave me more highlights than the upcoming six weeks of sports.

Every time I look up how many days it is until the NFL training camps open, I get depressed.

July is so pathetic that the biggest sports story of the month will be to determine if Michael Vick or Donté Stallworth gets out of jail first.

Maybe Dale Jr. can crack the Top 10 in the next six weeks? Who am I kidding?

Why does it seem like the college football season goes by in six weeks, and the June and July months last half a year? I know I can't be the only one who feels this way?

Manny Ramirez returns to baseball in July...isn't that an omen?

The Washington Nationals will be eliminated from the NL East race in July. And they won two out of three from the NY Yankees!

July is so weak, that Joe Buck will crawl from under his sofa on the set of his HBO show after its incredible debut last week. If anyone sees Artie Lange, be sure to get word to Buck ASAP. That show made me yearn for the days of the "Magic Hour" with Magic Johnson.

August can't get here fast enough.
