Happy Thanksgiving

This week's "Ripe Gripe" will be analogous to this week's work schedule....short and sweet.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone....we all have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Make sure you share and spread the wealth to others in need.

Speaking of sharing the wealth, how about that college football weekend?

It started with #20 Southern Miss losing to UAB on Thursday.

Then on Friday, #2 Oklahoma State lost in double OT to Iowa State....a 27-point underdog.

On Saturday, #4 Oregon, #5 Oklahoma and #7 Clemson decided to join in the upset action and completely turn the BCS into the SEC West Invitational.

Say what you want, but the fact that the SEC is #1, #2 and #3 in this week's poll is utterly amazing.

I'd say that is the definition of Southern Fried Football™.

I don't care what the BCS determines as the national title match-up, I'll make the statement again....if you are not good enough to win your conference championship, then how can you convince anybody using common sense that you should play for or win the national title?

If we had a playoff system or some type of tournament format, that would be a different story.....but we all know that concept is too progressive for the school presidents and chancellors.

We'll see how the next couple of weeks pan out, but Mike Slive and the suits in the SEC offices have to be laughing all the way to the bank.....again.

The Carolina Panthers are playing a really fascinating game this weekend in Indianapolis.

The 2-8 club is putting together another forgetful season, but this week they are taking on the winless Colts.

Indy is 0-10...coming off a bye week....and still doesn't have Peyton Manning in the line-up. Wow....this is a match-up for the ages.

The Panthers haven't won a road game in nearly two years.....the Colts haven't won a game of any kind in almost a year....something has to give.

The Colts are so bad that the Panthers are actually favored to win by the Vegas oddsmakers.....that should tell you something.

I can't wait to watch it....I just hope there are still some leftovers to nibble on by Sunday.

I really enjoyed being in Kansas City for a few days doing our SiriusXM show from the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame ceremonies.

It was a great class that was inducted: Chris Mullin , James Worthy, Ralph Sampson, Cazzie Russell, Eddie Sutton, Bob Knight, Eddie Einhorn and Joe Vancisin.....it was an honor to be a part of the event, broadcasting live and interviewing all of the inductees and VIPs.

It was the first time that I had the chance to see the College Basketball Experience....I highly suggest you check it out, the next time you are in the area.

Plus, the other great thing about KC is the BBQ.....the next time you're there it is imperative that you sample Oklahoma Joe's....you can thank me later.

Once again....Happy Thanksgiving.
